Closure

In May 2013 the Chicago Board of Education voted to close 49 Chicago Public Schools. Days after school let out for the last time at many of these buildings, I began photographing each one. The bricks and mortar buildings, playgrounds, graffiti, children playing, and hastily removed signs show the remnants of the largest public school closing at one time in recent U.S. history.
